Happiness and depression are not destinations. They are not rewards or consequences. They are feelings that we pass in and out of. Being happy cannot be a goal because happiness is temporary. Sure, it always comes back, but it cannot stay forever. The same is true of depression. It is not a place to run away from, but a place to land in from time to time. And, that’s ok. It’s ok to own it and to take it in stride.
