Like all good love stories,
It started with a song —
An intoxicating ear-worm that you couldn’t let go of,
And as much as it kept repeating was
As much as it couldn’t move on.

I remember the first words you said to me,
I remember the lightness in my heart,
The gentle cadence of the truest words,
Like the call of the red-winged blackbird in spring,
Whispering “it cannot be, it cannot be.”

A poem about a zephyr, I was writing in my head
As tears poured down and blended in with the water surrounding me,
When I thought I’d never see you again.

about me.
