Reading

Reading

is an act of bravery —

to learn about things you didn’t know
you didn’t know about,
to enter the thought-trains
of another — living or dead —
to visit the world of another’s experience
and taste the fruits not native to your home.

Reading

is fiercely courageous —

in a life dominated by screens and electricity,
it is a rebellious act, to pick up a book,
but, it is a peaceful one, bent on building,
not destroying.
Daring is the reader who
opens their soul to a book,
facing the fears of past generations,
constructing a flexible fortress
of ideas, turning that spark
of curiosity within them
into an ever-burning flame.
