Thank you for these kind words, Kharon Davis. This post really touched my heart and it makes me feel encouraged to keep working each day on Poetry in Form. I’m so happy that Poetry in Form has helped you to challenge yourself and try new things when it comes to poetry.
For a long time, I only wrote free verse because I thought that I couldn’t handle writing in form. But, once I tried it, I saw how much it helped me say exactly what I wanted to say and how much it helped me to add depth to my verse. I also liked the “brain workout” it gave me — kind of like a puzzle.
I think there is a lot of fear surrounding writing in form and a lot of writers who believe that they can’t do it. When I created Poetry in Form, my goal was to have it be a place for writers to feel comfortable trying out different forms and taking their writing to new levels.
The encouraging words from poets like you are what keep me going week after week as I work on this publication. And, being able to read and publish the amazing poems that get submitted is a great honor.
Thank you again, Kharon Davis. I am looking forward to reading more of your work!
