She called herself “The Vampire.”
Everyone in the lab thought it was just a cute little joke.
That is, until vials of blood started disappearing
without a trace or a reasonable explanation.

Of course, they couldn’t fire her.
She was always willing to take the night shift
and she was the only phlebotomist on the team
that could get the vein on the first try, every time.

Of course, they couldn’t confront her about it.
They were too afraid to become her next meal.
So, instead, they brought it up to their supervisor who laughed
and said, “Just try not to drink out of her coffee cup by mistake!”
