Water Slide

From my perch atop the water slide,
I look down upon a world of miniatures
over the gurgling, rushing water that
belches a chlorinated mist.

I can’t hear past the surging water, but
from here,
I can see everything.

A gap in the trees reveals
a funnel-shaped view of the lake,
a sail cuts though the blue,
I look to see a boy shoot down the flume,
squealing.

Everything seems to be
spiraling downward
from here.
